Product Description This is her first US release for Too Pure, following 2003's Steve Albini-recorded "I Am". She's "a reincarnation of a Louisiana bayou blues songstress, reborn to tell her tales of love and desire"--Pitchfork. "This is the sound of an angry, explosive anti-waif with a back catalogue full of the wonder of heartache and the magic of loss. That and a heck of a chip on her guitar"--Austin Chronicle. Look for her on tour with Electrelane in June. Tienda Her given name is Emma Louise, but when Ms. Niblett dons her blonde wig and steps into the recording booth--or onto the stage--she becomes Scout. On Kidnapped by Neptune, the Nottingham native combines the single-minded intensity of Cat Power with the spirited sweetness of the Breeders. The end result is raw, ragged, exposed. As with 2003's I Am, her third full-length was recorded in Chicago by Steve Albini, who's worked with kindred spirits like PJ Harvey and Nina Nastasia. So what sets Scout apart from these other singer/songwriters? Well, there's a greater emphasis on the beat (and she often bangs the kick drum herself). Then there's the way she can turn on a dime from a whisper to a scream ("Lullaby for Scout in 10 Years") or split in two through the magic of double-tracking ("F**ck Treasure Island").
